[Webinar] Energy Pathways: bridging energy scenarios and power system reality
September 24, 2026 | 13:00 – 13:45
An Energy Pathways study is a prospective exercise combining various advanced models that charts a realistic route from a country’s current energy system towards several possible horizon, including decarbonised one. Besides identifying the milestones, investments and technological choices required along the way, it also clearly define the share of the power sector in these scenarios while exploring different configurations in term of generation capacities to fulfil its role while ensuring a high-level security of supply.
A policy roadmap that has not been tested against operational constraints risks remaining a dead letter; conversely, technical planning carried out without a macro-level vision can fall short of the very decarbonisation goals it is meant to serve. Our Energy Pathways methodology was designed to close this gap, placing the power system back at the heart of decarbonisation strategies for the energy mix.
This webinar will cover:
- The context and key challenges behind Energy Pathways
- Our methodology:
- Overall approach
- Scenario building: demand projections VS supply capacities
- Generation study
- Network development
- Main challenges of this kind of study
The presentation will be followed by a Q&A and discussion with participants.
