Antares-Simulator

Antares, a probabilistic supply-demand balance simulator, was developed in 2007. RTE International manages its development, training, support and perpetual maintenance. This open source tool is used for ENTSO-E’s Ten-Year Network Development Plan (TYNPD), ENTSO-E’s short-term supply-demand balancing process, and seasonal adequacy outlooks for many TSOs.
This tool is currently used for the 10-year Network Development Plan (TYNPD) of the European Association of Transmission System Operators (ENTSO-E), the ENTSO-E short-term adequacy process and the outlook seasonal adequacy for many TSOs.

Our power network study solutions
RTE international offers services based on an open-source framework for network studies. Drawing on our experience with the Convergence platform, used at RTE for long-term and real-time network studies,
we offer functionalities for all types of network studies, including flow optimisation and N-1 compliance studies. This open-source project has been developed under the aegis of the Linux Foundation Energy.
PowSyBl

PowSyBl (Power System Blocks) is an open source Java platform for modelling and simulating electrical networks, licensed under the Mozilla Public License version 2.0. It is part of LF Energy, an open source foundation dedicated to power systems, hosted by the Linux Foundation. PowSyBl enables rapid implementation via scripts or the assembly of blocks to create advanced applications. It makes it easy to write complex software for the simulation and analysis of electrical systems, enabling various formats such as CGMES to be processed, power flow simulations and safety analyses to be carried out, as well as dynamic simulations. Its modular design allows developers to customise and extend its functionality with plugins.
FARAO

FARAO is an open source project offering a high-performance solution for coordinated capacity calculation and safety analysis, both local and coordinated, for electrical systems. The results of corrective action optimization enable :
- prevent TSOs from investing in new infrastructure
- improve market price formation and encourage long-term price convergence
- facilitate the integration of renewable energies
- reduce the cost of national tariffs
FARAO, a modular and open source tool, aims to :
- increase economic and social well-being
- reduce redispatching/counter-trading costs
- facilitate control by regulatory authorities through transparent implementation of approved methodologies
Unlike black-box tools, FARAO enables any player to check that specifications have been correctly implemented, helping operators to make the tool their own. FARAO is used not only for Regional Coordination Centre services, but also by TSOs for local security analysis, such as validation of the 70% margin required by the Clean Energy Package or bidding zone review studies.

OperatorFabric is a modular, scalable and industrial platform designed for the electricity, water and other utilities sector, aimed at facilitating utility operations.
It centralises real-time business events in one place to avoid multiple screens/software, offering:
- Event notifications called ‘cards’ with filtering functions (severity, date, process, etc.)
- User-specific event dispatch rules based on groups, organizational entities, processes, etc.
- End points for sending events
- A templating mechanism for customising the rendering of events (using HTML5)
- A timeline view of events and a calendar view
- Event archiving
- Sound notifications
- Screen integration from other applications
- Geographical placement on a map
- E-mail notification
It also facilitates interaction between operational control centres by enabling:
- Sharing information in real time in the form of pre-formatted maps, sent manually by operators or automatically by external solutions
- The introduction of pre-formatted question/answer exchanges between control centres, facilitating the implementation of operational processes with defined response times
- The sharing of events in a calendar
Our prediction solution: OpenSTEF - STORM
OpenSTEF – STORM
STORM is a software package developed by RTE International that predicts the electricity production of solar and wind power plants. It takes inputs from open data sites or from our customers: weather, electricity production and power plant maintenance periods. Predictions are then made using OpenSTEF (Open Short-Term Forecasts), an open source machine learning tool designed by LF Energy, which offers different types of forecast and a visualisation of their results.
Finally, STORM makes it possible to automate predictions according to the time of day or the power station required, using the Dagster open source application. By combining STORM with European open data platforms, it is possible to plan intermittent energy production prediction calculations throughout Europe.

Based on the theory of reliability and the analysis of lifetime data, this set of algorithmic functions makes it possible to construct optimised management strategies. Thanks to this work, RTE now has the statistical means to analyze and project over time the expected behavior of its assets according to different types of policy: ‘Run to Failure’, optimal preventive replacement, replacement based on age criteria, etc.
At the same time, RTE international is making its expertise available to support operators in the sector in adopting these methods, offering turnkey solutions for predicting the average number of residual damages, their costs, and the planned volumes of curative or preventive renewals.
