RTE international supports the operationalization of the Information and Coordination Centre (ICC) of the West African Power Exchange System (WAPES), responsible for supervising energy exchanges between West African countries. RTE International will also provide support during the two years following the launch of the CIC by contributing to the commissioning of the equipment and knowledge sharing on energy exchange management, drafting procedures, and equipment maintenance. At the end of the technical assistance mission, the ICC will be able to operate autonomously. The CIC will play a crucial role in developing a transparent electricity market in West Africa, which will provide affordable and reliable energy to a growing number of consumers through cross-border energy exchanges.
