Preliminary Electrical Studies for an HVDC-connected floating offshore wind farm in the North Sea

RTE international was contracted to perform preliminary electrical studies for an HVDC-connected floating OWF also connected to eight offshore oil&gas platforms situated in the North Sea around 250 km from shore. The rating of the system HVDC-OWF is 1.4 GW. The project is in the planning phase.

The activities that were performed by RTE international include:

• load-flow studies,
• short-circuit contribution studies,
• dynamic EMT studies
• harmonic stability studies.

RTE international completed the abovementioned activities within a span of 4 months, and the feasibility study project with RTE international is currently in its final phase.
