Redstork Solutions becomes RTEi South-East Europe and accelerate energy transition in the Balkans
Paris, 30 June 2026 – RTE international has announced that its Serbian subsidiary, Redstork Solutions, has officially changed its name to RTEi South-East Europe (RTEi SEE). This rebranding marks a significant step in the Group’s expansion in South-East Europe, a key region in Europe’s energy transition.
A crucial energy transition challenge in the Balkans
The Western Balkans (including Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia) remain heavily reliant on coal-fired power plants and imported gas. These countries have nonetheless committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
Present in Serbia since 2021, RTE international benefits from a strategic base at the crossroads of Central and Eastern Europe. As a true regional hub, our Serbian subsidiary serves as a central platform for supporting energy projects across the Balkans.
A new positioning to support a regional energy ambition
With RTEi SEE, RTE international consolidates its brand identity across regions. The rebranding aims to provide greater clarity regarding both the company’s affiliation with the Group and the service portfolio. It also reflects a strategic ambition to deepen its influence among local energy stakeholders.
Specialising in digital solutions for energy system challenges (including CGMES modelling, Antares simulations, and RCC services) the Serbian subsidiary has long promoted open-source technologies in power systems. Open-source solutions are seen as a strategic lever for accelerating the energy transition, enabling smarter, more resilient and transparent grids.
While continuing this legacy, RTEi SEE is now expanding its activities to encompass the Group’s full range of expertise, including:
- Network planning,
- Engineering studies,
- Power electronics,
- Infrastructure operation and maintenance,
- Training.
A key player in major energy projects in the Balkans
RTE international is already actively involved in several strategic energy initiatives across the region. It has been commissioned by the French Development Agency (AFD) to carry out a strategic study in collaboration with Serbia’s Ministry of Mining and Energy.
Modelled on RTE France’s Energy Pathways 2050 report, the study aims to explore several decarbonisation scenarios for Serbia’s energy mix by 2050, using a methodology tailored to the national context. The project will help identify the investments required in generation capacity, transmission infrastructure, and flexibility solutions to offset the planned closure of thermal power plants, while also accounting for economic and environmental considerations.
With RTEi SEE, RTE international reaffirms its commitment to supporting South-East Europe’s power systems on their path to a decarbonised future. This strengthened regional presence aligns closely with the Group’s mission: to share its expertise in power system planning, operation, and modernisation in service of the global energy transition and international partners.
