style=\"color: #003366;\"><span class=\"fontColorThemePrimary\"><strong>As Senegal\u2019s electricity transmission network continues to expand at a rapid pace, the national utility Senelec is seeking a more structured, modern and efficient approach to ensure the reliability and performance of its transmission assets. <\/strong><\/span><\/span><span class=\"fontSizeXLarge\" style=\"color: #003366;\"><span class=\"fontColorThemePrimary\"><strong>The growth of the network requires substantial adaptation in operating practices, system supervision and maintenance methods, alongside the integration of advanced technologies for overhead, underground and submarine transmission assets. <\/strong><\/span><\/span><span class=\"fontSizeXLarge\" style=\"color: #003366;\"><span class=\"fontColorThemePrimary\"><strong>Within this context, RTE international is delivering a major programme to reinforce Senelec\u2019s capabilities, methodologies and equipment as part of the MCA Senegal II Compact.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p><div class=\"anchor-h2\"><h2 id=\"usd-600-million-to-modernise-and-secure-senegal\u2019s-power-grid\"><span class=\"fontSizeXLargePlus\" style=\"color: #65afff;\"><strong><br \/>USD 600 Million to modernise and secure Senegal\u2019s power grid<\/strong><\/span><\/h2><i class=\"a_x95XR_A4j40 f__ui_p_A4j40 css-287\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/div><p class=\"noSpacingAbove spacingBelow\" data-text-type=\"withSpacing\"><span class=\"fontSizeMediumPlus\" style=\"color: #003366;\">This cooperation programme, agreed between the United States of America (through the Millennium Challenge Corporation, MCC), the Millennium Challenge Account \u2013 Senegal II (<a href=\"https:\/\/mcasenegal.sn\/\">MCA-S\u00e9n\u00e9gal II<\/a>) and the Government of Senegal, represents a total investment of USD 600 million.\u00a0<strong>Its ambition is to bring lasting transformation to the Senegalese electricity sector\u00a0<\/strong>through three pillars:<\/span><\/p><ul><li class=\"noSpacingAbove noSpacingBelow\" data-text-type=\"noSpacing\"><span class=\"fontSizeMediumPlus\" style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Transmission:\u00a0<\/strong>strengthening the transmission network<\/span><\/li><li class=\"noSpacingAbove noSpacingBelow\" data-text-type=\"noSpacing\"><span class=\"fontSizeMediumPlus\" style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Access:<\/strong>\u00a0expanding access to electricity<\/span><\/li><li class=\"noSpacingAbove spacingBelow\" data-text-type=\"withSpacing\"><span class=\"fontSizeMediumPlus\" style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Reform:<\/strong>\u00a0improving governance and sector performance<br \/><br \/><\/span><\/li><\/ul><p class=\"noSpacingAbove spacingBelow\" data-text-type=\"withSpacing\"><span class=\"fontSizeMediumPlus\" style=\"color: #003366;\">The project led by RTE international\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rte-international.com\/en\/maintenance\/\">Asset Management and CMMS team<\/a> forms part of the Reform pillar,\u00a0<strong>dedicated to enhancing the institutional framework, improving network performance and building the skills of Senelec professionals.<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p class=\"noSpacingAbove spacingBelow\" data-text-type=\"withSpacing\"><span class=\"fontSizeMediumPlus\" style=\"color: #003366;\">Since late 2023, RTE International has been supporting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.senelec.sn\/\">Senelec<\/a> through a comprehensive programme aimed at:<\/span><\/p><ul><li class=\"noSpacingAbove noSpacingBelow\" data-text-type=\"noSpacing\"><span class=\"fontSizeMediumPlus\" style=\"color: #003366;\">Strengthening capabilities for managing the electricity transmission infrastructure,<\/span><\/li><li class=\"noSpacingAbove noSpacingBelow\" data-text-type=\"noSpacing\"><span class=\"fontSizeMediumPlus\" style=\"color: #003366;\">Providing, training and deploying advanced maintenance tools and methods,<\/span><\/li><li class=\"noSpacingAbove noSpacingBelow\" data-text-type=\"noSpacing\"><span class=\"fontSizeMediumPlus\" style=\"color: #003366;\">Defining and overseeing the evolution of information systems,<\/span><\/li><li class=\"noSpacingAbove noSpacingBelow\" data-text-type=\"noSpacing\"><span class=\"fontSizeMediumPlus\" style=\"color: #003366;\">Designing strategic workforce and skills planning,<\/span><\/li><li class=\"noSpacingAbove spacingBelow\" data-text-type=\"withSpacing\"><span class=\"fontSizeMediumPlus\" style=\"color: #003366;\">Developing a Competency Development Plan and training paths for Senelec\u2019s Training Centre.<br \/><\/span><\/li><\/ul><div class=\"anchor-h2\"><h2>\u00a0<\/h2><h2 id=\"cmms,-asset-management-and-skills-development\"><span class=\"fontSizeXLargePlus\" style=\"color: #65afff;\"><strong>CMMS, Asset Management and Skills Development<\/strong><\/span><\/h2><i class=\"a_x95XR_A4j40 f__ui_p_A4j40 css-287\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/div><p class=\"noSpacingAbove spacingBelow\" data-text-type=\"withSpacing\"><span class=\"fontSizeMediumPlus\" style=\"color: #003366;\">The project led by RTE international \u2014deployed in close coordination with Senelec\u2019s executive leadership, Transmission Division, IT Department, HR Division and others\u2014is structured around <strong>several interconnected workstreams, each contributing directly to improving Senelec\u2019s operational performance.<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p class=\"noSpacingAbove spacingBelow\" data-text-type=\"withSpacing\"><span class=\"fontSizeMediumPlus\" style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>The adaptation of the asset management framework for the transmission network<\/strong> provides a structured and consistent view of all infrastructure, an essential foundation for rigorous investment planning and effective prioritisation of interventions.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"noSpacingAbove spacingBelow\" data-text-type=\"withSpacing\"><span class=\"fontSizeMediumPlus\" style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>The development of new maintenance policies<\/strong> for overhead, underground and submarine assets strengthens network reliability by defining operating procedures suited to the diversity of equipment and environmental conditions.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"noSpacingAbove spacingBelow\" data-text-type=\"withSpacing\"><span class=\"fontSizeMediumPlus\" style=\"color: #003366;\">In parallel, <strong>the introduction of advanced maintenance techniques<\/strong>\u2014including drone inspections using thermal imaging, and helicopter-based activities\u2014improves inspection quality, accelerates fault detection and enhances worker safety.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"noSpacingAbove spacingBelow\" data-text-type=\"withSpacing\"><span class=\"fontSizeMediumPlus\" style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>The modernisation of information systems<\/strong>, including digitalisation initiatives (digital twin, advanced planning and work tracking, workforce management, procurement and inventory tools), enables better-informed, cross-functional and coordinated management of the transmission infrastructure. <strong>The upgrade of the CMMS and deployment of a mobile solution<\/strong> are concrete examples of this transformation.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"noSpacingAbove spacingBelow\" data-text-type=\"withSpacing\"><span class=\"fontSizeMediumPlus\" style=\"color: #003366;\">The skills dimension is addressed through the launch of strategic <strong>workforce and skills planning<\/strong> and a new <strong>Competency Development Plan<\/strong>, together with the creation of updated training pathways in partnership with the Centre for Professional Training and Development (CFPP).
