As part of a tripartite agreement between the French Development Agency (<\/b><a style=\"color: #003366;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.afd.fr\/fr\"><b>AFD<\/b><\/a><b>), <\/b><a style=\"color: #003366;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mepso.com.mk\/index.php\/en\/\"><b>MEPSO<\/b><\/a><b> (the transmission system operator of North Macedonia&#8217;s) and RTE international as technical partner, a technical assistance project has been launched to support the modernisation and digitalisation of the Macedonian electricity network.<\/b><\/span><\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #65afff;\">A programme supporting the digital and energy transition<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">The project is structured around four complementary components:<\/span><\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Grid Digitalisation:<\/strong> a feasibility study on the digitalisation of a 110 kV substation in accordance with the international IEC 61850 standard. This approach aims to replace copper wiring with fiber optic connections, leading to cost reductions, easier remote operations, enhanced cybersecurity, and improved equipment monitoring.<br \/><br \/><\/span><\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Supply Security:<\/strong> development of an Antares model, an energy simulation tool, enabling MEPSO to conduct national supply security studies in compliance with European regulations (NRAA \u2013 National Resource Adequacy Assessment).<br \/><br \/><\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Reserve Calculation:<\/strong> development of a novel model based on machine learning techniques to anticipate electricity reserve requirements over a 3-to-5-year horizon, in the context of increasing integration of renewable energy sources.<br \/><br \/><\/span><\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Knowledge Transfer on Electrical Losses:<\/strong> training MEPSO teams in the measurement, reduction, and management of electrical losses, based on best practices developed in France<\/span><\/li><\/ul><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #65afff;\">A partnership rooted in the Balkans region<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Present in Serbia since 2021, RTE international has established a regional foothold at the heart of the Balkans. Its Serbian subsidiary, serving as a key operational hub for Southeast Europe, supports transmission system operators in addressing their energy challenges. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">This project with MEPSO fully aligns with this regional approach, reflecting RTE international\u2019s commitment to supporting the modernization of power systems in the Balkans and promoting the gradual integration of European energy markets.<\/span><\/p><blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><em>Veronika Milewski, CEO of RTE international, emphasizes:<br \/>&#8220;This project demonstrates RTE international\u2019s ability to leverage its technical expertise and in-depth knowledge of European power systems to support the energy transition in the Balkans.
