Digital solutions
Our services
The digital line is fully integrated into the modernization of electricity networks. We help our clients integrate the opportunities offered by new information and communication technologies to optimize their service. We provide solutions to make network operators more efficient by effectively managing critical network interfaces.Indeed, there are software solutions that help managers complete their critical tasks faster through automated processing. It can be a signal that alerts producers or consumers when the network risks being over or under tension. It is one of the possible responses to smoothing consumption peaks and a tool for reducing the size of networks. Thus, the solution makes it possible to reduce consumption during peak periods and manage the flow of electricity produced by traditional and renewable energy producers. This is all part of smart grid technology. Also useful for strengthening regional cooperation, our software and programs are capable of conducting a common matching process aimed at assessing the remaining capacity in each country and detecting potential coordination problems. We help our clients grasp the dynamics of digitalization and leverage them in their businesses.

Our value proposition
RTE international offers a unique combination of business and IT expertise to help players in the energy sector deploy innovative solutions effectively. Our solutions are based on the following principles.
Open source approach
Our services are based on open source components, mainly affiliated to the Linux Energy Foundation. This guarantees the openness and neutrality of our solutions.
Security
Our services are delivered according to the highest security standards for IT projects.
Modularity
Our offering uses a modular approach with microservices and Kubernetes, making it easy to customise the software. Electricity network operators have specific needs, and new versions can be deployed at the microservices level, enabling improvements without impacting on others.
Interoperability
The architecture proposed for our solutions, based on microservices, enables interoperability between components and the development of new functionalities.
Scalability
Managing the transport network requires more and more computing resources with fast results. Our architecture ensures perfect scalability (horizontally and vertically) to distribute massive calculations efficiently.
High availability
Our architecture, based in particular on Kubernetes, ensures high availability and makes our solutions robust to incidents.
Our value proposition
We have one of the most advanced tools for CGMES roadmapping and CGM construction, compliant with the latest CGMES requirements thanks to our open source framework.
Our long-term supply-demand balance analysis solution
Antares-Simulator
More information at antares-simulator.orgAntares, a probabilistic supply-demand balance simulator, was developed in 2007. RTE International manages its development, training, support and perpetual maintenance. This open source tool is used for ENTSO-E's Ten-Year Network Development Plan (TYNPD), ENTSO-E's short-term supply-demand balancing process, and seasonal adequacy outlooks for many TSOs. This tool is currently used for the 10-year Network Development Plan (TYNPD) of the European Association of Transmission System Operators (ENTSO-E), the ENTSO-E short-term adequacy process and the outlook seasonal adequacy for many TSOs.
Our power network study solutions
RTE international offers services based on an open-source framework for network studies. Drawing on our experience with the Convergence platform, used at RTE for long-term and real-time network studies,we offer functionalities for all types of network studies, including flow optimisation and N-1 compliance studies. This open-source project has been developed under the aegis of the Linux Foundation Energy.
PowSyBl
More information at www.powsybl.orgPowSyBl (Power System Blocks) is an open source Java platform for modelling and simulating electrical networks, licensed under the Mozilla Public License version 2.0. It is part of LF Energy, an open source foundation dedicated to power systems, hosted by the Linux Foundation. PowSyBl enables rapid implementation via scripts or the assembly of blocks to create advanced applications. It makes it easy to write complex software for the simulation and analysis of electrical systems, enabling various formats such as CGMES to be processed, power flow simulations and safety analyses to be carried out, as well as dynamic simulations. Its modular design allows developers to customise and extend its functionality with plugins.
FARAO
More information at www.powsybl.orgFARAO is an open source project offering an efficient solution for coordinated capacity calculation, local and coordinated safety analysis of electrical systems. The results of the optimisation of corrective measures enable :
- prevent TSOs from investing in new infrastructure,
- improve market price formation and encourage long-term price convergence,
- facilitate the integration of renewable energies,
- reduce the cost of national tariffs.
FARAO, a modular and open source tool, aims to :
- increase economic and social well-being
- reduce redispatching/counter-trading costs,
- facilitate control by regulatory authorities through transparent implementation of approved methodologies.
Unlike black-box tools, FARAO enables any player to check that specifications have been correctly implemented, helping operators to make the tool their own. FARAO is used not only for Regional Coordination Centre services, but also by TSOs for local security analysis, such as validation of the 70% margin required by the Clean Energy Package or bidding zone review studies.
Our coordination and information solution
RTE international offers a wide range of services centered on OperatorFabric, the intelligent assistant for network operators, and its version dedicated to the coordination of TSOs and RCCs, Let's Coordinate.
OperatorFabric
More information at opfab.github.ioOperatorFabric is a modular, scalable and industrial platform designed for the electricity, water and other utilities sector, aimed at facilitating utility operations.
It centralises real-time business events in one place to avoid multiple screens/software, offering:
- Event notifications called ‘cards’ with filtering functions (severity, date, process, etc.),
- Per-user event sending rules based on groups, organizational entities, processes, etc.
- End points for sending events,
- A templating mechanism for customising the rendering of events (using HTML5),
- A timeline view of events and a calendar view,
- Event archiving,
- Sound notifications,
- Screen integration from other applications.
- Geographical placement on a map
- E-mail notification
It also facilitates interaction between operational control centres by enabling :
- Sharing information in real time in the form of pre-formatted maps, sent manually by operators or automatically by external solutions,
- The introduction of pre-formatted question/answer exchanges between control centres, facilitating the implementation of operational processes with defined response times,
- The sharing of events in a calendar.
Our prediction solution: OpenSTEF - STORM
STORM is a software package developed by RTE International that predicts the electricity production of solar and wind power plants. It takes inputs from open data sites or from our customers: weather, electricity production and power plant maintenance periods. Predictions are then made using OpenSTEF (Open Short-Term Forecasts), an open source machine learning tool designed by LF Energy, which offers different types of forecast and a visualisation of their results. Finally, STORM makes it possible to automate predictions according to the time of day or the power station required, using the Dagster open source application. By combining STORM with European open data platforms, it is possible to plan intermittent energy production prediction calculations throughout Europe.
Our Asset Management support solution
ReLife
More information on github.com/rte-france/relifeBased on the theory of reliability and the analysis of lifetime data, this set of algorithmic functions makes it possible to construct optimised management strategies. Thanks to this work, RTE now has the statistical means to analyse and project over time according to different types of policy: ‘Run to Failure’, optimal preventive replacement, replacement based on age criteria, and so on. Functions are also available to predict the average number of residual breakdowns and their costs, as well as the volumes of curative or preventive renewals planned.
