Why a CGMES Expert position?

In the context of energy transition, the profound changes in the power system (generation, transmission, distribution), as well as the strengthening of coordination at the European level with the emergence of Regional Coordination Centers (RCCs), network study tools must be adapted and be able to evolve in a more agile manner. RTE international proposes software solutions that will help TSOs and RCCs to meet these challenges. To optimize our performance and progress, we are looking for a CGMES Expert.

Tasks

Our tools include support for:

  • Network modeling and interfacing with standard data exchange formats (e.g. CGMES),
  • Calculations for power system security analysis,
  • Capacity calculations at interconnections,
  • Supply-demand balance management,
  • Synthesis of information and presentation of results for quick decision making by operators.

Duties

You will collaborate with our engineers and experts, and you will work on:

  • The development and improvement of IT tools for the management of electrical networks,
  • On highly technological projects, in the field of energy transition, based on the latest computer languages,
  • In a dynamic environment, with a high level of technicality on the business side and using the latest technologies on the development side.

As part of the digital solutions team, you will also contribute to:

  • Supporting the sales teams in the construction, negotiation, and sale of commercial offers in its field of activity,
  • Carrying out various missions necessary for the smooth running of the company and support with the whole company the current growth in all areas,
  • Growing the team by implementing new methods and projects.

Candidate requirements

Experience 

  • Minimum of 0 to 5 years experience.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of network modeling and specific data exchange and network modeling using CGMES format is a plus (including network computation, state optimization, etc.),
  • Knowledge of a computer language (Python, Java),
  • Working knowledge of an additional computer language is a plus: C++/Java.

Degrees

  • Master‚Äôs degree in electrical engineering with knowledge in computer development or master’s degree in computer science with a background in electrical engineering.

Foreign languages

  • Fluent English.

Job conditions

  • Full time contract,
  • Occasional travel in France, the European Union and internationally,
  • The main office is in Paris, France, but other locations are possible.
